The Taurus Judge is one of Taurus’ most popular revolvers. The weapon made a huge splash when they mass produced an affordable, and incredibly versatile revolver capable of firing both the powerful 45 Colt and the small bore 410 shotshell. This was not the first company make a 45/410 revolver, but it was the first to mass-produce an affordable variant. The Judge is an Excellent survival gun and is capable of doing a whole lot.
- Pest Removal. Loading a Judge with .410 makes it one of the best close quarters pest weapons out there. With a Judge one can climb under a house, or in an attic and be armed to deal with any potential invaders. The Judge is also perfect snake medicine when on the trail.
- Hunting. A two-pronged attack for the Judge. First off when loaded with some 410 Buckshot you can easily dispatch small game like rabbits, and larger bird shot, like No 4 are perfect for squirrel and birds. When loaded with 45 Colt the weapon is plenty powerful to deal with medium game like whitetail deer and hogs.
- Self Defense. The Judge is not the best weapon for fighting two legged vermin. It does have a limited capacity, and a short barrel to boot. However, when loaded with 45 Colt this weapon would have no issues dispatching any attackers. I do not suggest shotshells for self-defense, the judge’s short barrel kills velocity on shotshells
- Interchangeability. The Judge is already versatile enough with it’s use of shotshells and 45 colt rounds. However with the use of Short Lane shotshell adapters the weapon can be converted to fire 22 LR, 9mm, and 32 H&R Mag. This allows the Judge to be the ultimate scavenger’s weapon.
The Judge is an excellent weapon, backed by a killer warranty. The Judge’s popularity has also produced numerous accessories, including grips, sights, and holsters. The Judge may not be a perfect battle weapon, but it’s a perfect prepper weapon.
